This Privacy Policy explains what information Jyotesh (https://jyotesh.com), including our iOS and Android apps, collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site or app, you agree to this policy.
1. Information you provide
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text) when you register.
- Birth details — date, time, and place of birth for you and, if you use the compatibility or chart-sharing features, for other people you enter. This is used solely to calculate astrological charts and readings.
- Phone number (web registration only) — used for account security and fraud prevention; not collected by the mobile apps.
- Messages you send in the "Ask an Astrologer" chat feature.
- Payment information — we never see or store your full card number. Web purchases are processed by Stripe; in-app purchases on iOS/Android are processed by Apple/Google and reported to us through RevenueCat, which shares only the purchase and subscription status, not your payment details.
2. Information collected automatically
We collect your IP address (used to detect country for fraud-prevention checks during registration), general device and browser information, and basic usage data such as pages viewed and features used.
3. How we use your information
- To calculate and display your astrological charts, daily readings, compatibility reports, and natal reports.
- To operate your account, process purchases, and provide customer support.
- To generate AI-assisted readings and chat responses, which requires sending relevant chart data and your message text to our AI providers (Google Gemini and Groq) for processing. These providers process the data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, purchase receipts) and, only if you separately opt in via a clearly labeled checkbox, occasional marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in any such email.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who process it on our behalf: Stripe (web payments), Apple/Google and RevenueCat (in-app purchases), Google Gemini and Groq (AI-generated readings and chat), and our email delivery provider (transactional and, if opted in, marketing email).
- Select third-party advertising partners, but only for users who separately opt in via the specific checkbox described in Section 9 of our Terms of Service.
- Law enforcement or other parties when required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jyotesh, our users, or others.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and birth chart data for as long as your account is active, so you can return to your saved charts and reports. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it (for example, financial records for tax purposes).
6. Your choices and rights
- You can review and update your account information from within the app or site.
- You can request a copy of your data, or request that we delete your account and associated data, by contacting us (Section 9 below).
- You can opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
7. Children's privacy
Jyotesh is not directed at children, and paid services require you to be at least 18 years old (see our Terms of Service). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site or app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
